EIP Practice Abstract Format:
Short summary for practitioners in English on the (final or expected) outcomes (1000-1500 characters, word count – no spaces). This summary should be as interesting as possible for farmers/end-users, using a direct and easy understandable language and pointing out entrepreneurial elements which are particularly relevant for practitioners. Research oriented aspects which do not help the understanding of the practice itself should be avoided. |
Kindergarten “Duzgynelis” is the first private kindergarten in Vilnius (Lithuania) established in an individual house, with a small enclosed courtyard, and near the forest to create a cozy, warm, healthy, natural oasis to grow for children. Small groups, daily production of fresh food, individual attention, upholding forgotten values, and developing a healthy lifestyle are some of the core values of the kindergarten. In relation to SFSC, their model is based on buying organic food from farmers and selling it to the parents of kindergarten children (without charge), as well as producing food from organic products and supplying food and organic products to other kindergartens. Kindergarten-baked organic bread has become popular among the surrounding residents of the district, so bread and bread products are also available to the general public. |
Main results/outcomes of the activity (expected or final): Consumers (parents) can buy healthy products while picking their children. The kindergarden is also producer and distributor of their own made food to other kindergardens and general public.
