Mobilieji ūkininkų turgeliai is a mobile farmer market operating in various cities of Lithuania and serving different city districts on different days – from Tuesday to Saturday- of the week. Those markets are mostly located near supermarkets or public administration buildings and are present in the biggest cities, such as Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, and Šiauliuose. The products are delivered directly to consumers – mostly from food tracks – serving as a gateway to expanding consumer access to local healthier food choices from Lithuanian farms. The Mobile farmer market is coordinated by the Agricultural Cooperative “Lietuviško ūkio kokybė” that currently administers the activities of mobile markets and unites farmers growing, processing, and selling food products.
Main results/outcomes of the activity (expected or final): Consumers can buy healthy products, traditional and organic. This model of food distribution may provide an essential source of additional income for local growers by allowing them to supply a non-traditional, and often inaccessible, customer base.
