Teagasc and MTU to host Research and Innovation Workshop ‘NUÁIL!’

Teagasc, in collaboration with Munster Technological University (MTU) will be hosting an online workshop for food producers, members of the research community, policy makers and other stakeholders in the Irish agri-food sector on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 10am – 12 noon.

The workshop event tagged ‘NUÁIL!’ seeks to provide learning opportunities and inspiration on building sustainable and resilient food systems in Ireland. The EU is on a journey towards providing healthy and sustainable diets for consumers and one of the pathways towards achieving this transition is research and innovation. NUÁIL! (which means ‘innovate’ in Irish) is organised by the EU-funded projects, agroBRIDGES & PLOUTOS and aims to equip producers, researchers and policymakers with knowledge on sustainable and inclusive food systems.  Short Food Supply Chains (SFSCs) and best practices embraced by SFSCs across Europe will be explored at the event, alongside case studies of sustainable innovation from rural Ireland.

The forum will also seek to encourage dialogue among stakeholders on relevant policies, infrastructure and resources in the agri-food sector that need to be developed to help Ireland attain the shift towards more sustainable food production and consumption. Expected speakers at the event include Steven Perry, Economic Development Officer, Donegal County Council, Helen McHenry, Western Development Commission and Dinny Galvin, Ambassador Farmer and agricultural and energy liaison officer of the Dingle Creativity and Innovation Hub. Registration for the event is available here
